Managing for Money: A Handbook for International Cultural Institutions
(international versions)

The Russian version

Thanks to the initative of the International Charitable Foundation for the Renaissance of St. Petersburg-Leningrad, The Fund's Managing for Money: A Handbook for International Cultural Institutions was published in Russian in the fall of 1999.

"The book that you gave to the State Russian Museum as a gift became a bestseller. What makes your book different from other books on the same subject is that it gives a complete overview of management, marketing, etc. in their relations to each other, and it is written in a very comprehensible intelligible language." -- The State Russian Museum

"This is one of the best books ever written on the management of cultural organizations. In Russia it will especially be useful because its author not only shares her profound knowledge of the best international experiences in management and PR for successful fundraising, but also encourages us to reflect on our own practices from a different standpoint. Her insightful advice of an empathic outsider opens up even bureaucratic minds preparing them for changes. The book is effected with penetrating clarity, delicious wit and accessible style." -- Alexander Margolis - Head of the International Charitable Foundation for the Renaissance of St. Petersburg-Leningrad

The Bulgarian version

The handbook for cultural institutions "Managing for Money", written by Jillian Poole, president of the Fund for Arts and Culture in Central and Eastern Europe, was published in Bulgarian and used for the museum management seminar in Sofia, October 10 - 13, 2000.

Participants in the seminar have expressed their appreciation for the book:

"Finally a book that will freely discuss those "minor" problems which lead to a failure in the organization" -- Rumian Ganchev - Director of the Regional Museum of History in Rousse

"An easy-to-read book, written with a sense of humour, that sheds a light on the relation "good management - prosperity of the organisation". A must for every director of a cultural organisation." -- Ilya Prokopov - Director of the National Museum of History

Thanks to the Fund for Arts and Culture in Central and Eastern Europe the book is made available to Bulgarian cultural institutions at nominal price. The book was published in Bulgarian by the Soros Center for the Arts Foundation and can be bought from bookshops around the country at 3.80 leva.
