THE FUND FOR ARTS AND CULTURE in Central and Eastern Europe

country visits

An Overview of Our Activities

As we’ve noted previously, The Fund serves a diverse client base that includes libraries, museums, art galleries and a wide range of performing arts institutions. Today, increasingly, we are dealing with ever more complex areas of concern within these institutions. This is the result of their maturing awareness of the nature of their needs and their confidence in our ability to help them work out solutions.

We are receiving strong indications that joint activities among cultural institutions are becoming more common in the areas we serve. This is very good news, for it means enriched cultural experiences and more effective public presentations.

Our operating activity has been steadily increasing as more countries seek and receive more support from us. As the need for our services continues to expand, the ability of that part of the world to finance desirable cultural improvements has shown very little, if any, improvement. As a result, the strain of financing our consultancies continues to be a major concern. Our hosts always contribute some funding. However, our biggest expenses - airfare and travel - are usually beyond their reach. We become, more each year, in need of new contributions to meet these financial burdens.

The greatest contribution to The Fund is, of course, made by all of the consultants who serve selflessly and without remuneration; but our donors make it possible for them to render these services. We are fully dependent on the flow of contributions that come from foundations and individuals, as well as from new contributors. We especially thank all those who help us deal with the financial consequences of our success, and thus make our work possible.

Come, join us on a journey to some of the countries we visit; see what we see and meet some of the people we meet. It will be a fun trip.

Corporate Secretary
