Because of scheduling complications, we were forced to postpone our planned September seminar in Kolomya, Ukraine until April 2005. The seminar, “The Reflection of the Local Traditional Culture in Museum Exposition” will be presented to some 30 regional museum leaders; it will be led by Guillermo Barrios who has served The Fund in Ukraine on two previous occasions. We are deeply appreciative that the seminar will be partially funded by the Embassy.

In October, The Fund hosted the Deputy Director of the Ivan Honchar Collection, Ihor Poshyvailo, for a weeklong study visit in Washington. The Honchar Collection is the primary craft collection in Ukraine and outstanding by any standard. We arranged an extensive series and interviews and introductions in Washington including the National Indian Museum, The Textile Museum, Hillwood Museum, AAM, The Library of Congress, and with museum experts.
